Input needed: National ecosystem research infrastructure

The Ecosystem Science Council is currently engaged in the national consultation process to seek feedback on the National Research Infrastructure Capability Issues Paper, released 20 July 2016.

SURVEY

Tell us what you want the national ecosystem research infrastructure to deliver for the next 10 years. Please complete this brief survey before 31 August so we can capture your input.  The Council will use your feedback to assist us in preparation of our written submission. Please read below for more information and background to this process.

Background

This consultation is part of the process to develop a new National Research Infrastructure Roadmap that will identify Australia's research infrastructure capability needs. The 2016 Roadmap, led by the Chief Scientist and an Expert Working Group, will advise the Government on future investment in national research infrastructure to support Australian research and innovation over a ten-year horizon that will underpin the economic wellbeing of our nation.

The research community is being asked to consider future research trends, their strategic importance to Australia, and the research infrastructure required to capitalise on these trends.

Through Foundations for the future and other processes, the Ecosystem Science Council and ecosystem science community have identified what is needed to enhance our national research capability for the national benefit. The opportunity before us is to present the case for a fully mature ecosystem research capability of world-leading significance delivering critical knowledge for the nation, and to meet the global challenges of the future.

How can you help?

The national consultation process involves a series of meetings nationwide, and a call for written submissions.

We encourage any interested members of the ecosystem science community to attend the consultation workshops in major cities and show the commitment, expertise, and passion of our community to the Chief Scientist and Expert Panel. Full details of the remaining consultation workshops are available here.

The Council also invites your feedback to assist us in preparation of our written submission, to ensure it reflects the needs of our community. Please complete this brief survey so we can capture your input. The survey will remain open until 31 August.

Thank you in advance for your feedback. Please feel free to contact the Council if you have any questions or ideas you'd like to discuss outside of the above channels.
